Nokia enters 8MP market with N86

Samsung and others might have done it before ( in fact, long before), but Nokia has just entered the 8MP (mega pixel, for the uninitiated) segment with its dual slider phone, the N86.

n86

Obviously the biggest thing about the N86 is the camera ( otherwise, its pretty much similar to the N85). The phone comes with wide-angle Carl Zeiss lens, making it a fine competitor to stand-alone cameras. Add to that the better mechanical shutter to minimize motion blurs, and sharper image contrast and better colour representation, the N86 is one whopper of a camera phone. Xenon flash fans will be disappointed though. The phone has dual-led flash and it seems like Nokia has given up the idea of incorporating xenon flash in its phones.

The camera aside, the N86 doesnt have anything new and with the mobile market moving towards touchscreen phones, it is a surprise that Nokia has come up with the N86. Of course the price point of the N86 makes it a better option than the upcoming N97, but Nokia seems to be making minor increments to its existing phones rather releasing cutting-edge models. I should say, am rather disappointed with Nokia. Their policy of making improvements on one aspect and actually making degradations on other features, unless technically demanded, should be avoided.

If you were looking for a 8MP phone, only then, go for the N86. If you own a N82 or a N85 already and not bothered with the mega pixel number game, better stick to your phone.

Well, here
